Dos tazas. Una mesa. Una ciudad que duerme detrás.

Todo en esta obra es grafito y sombra — la ciudad nocturna, los edificios con sus ventanas encendidas, el suelo que vibra con pinceladas oscuras y nerviosas. Todo, excepto dos cosas: una taza rosada con una flor, y una taza azul con una cruz. Las dos humean. Las dos están calientes. Las dos esperan a alguien.

Rogelio Garcia construye aquí una escena que conocemos de memoria pero que rara vez nos detenemos a ver: el momento justo antes del encuentro. Las sillas no aparecen en la obra — y esa ausencia es deliberada. Lo que hay es solo la promesa: dos tazas preparadas, el vapor que sube, la ciudad que hace de testigo silencioso.

El contraste entre el mundo en negro carbón y el color íntimo de las tazas dice lo que el título no necesita decir: que en medio de cualquier ciudad oscura, cualquier noche complicada, el café compartido es un acto de resistencia suave. Un refugio de dos.

 Una taza con flor. Una taza con cruz. Dos maneras distintas de estar en el mundo — sentadas a la misma mesa.

Eso es todo lo que hace falta.

Everything in this work is graphite and shadow — the nocturnal city, the buildings with their lit windows, the ground vibrating with dark, nervous brushstrokes. Everything, except two things: a pink cup with a flower, and a blue cup with a cross. Both steaming. Both warm. Both waiting for someone.
Rogelio García builds a scene we know by heart but rarely stop to see: the moment just before the encounter. The chairs don’t appear in the work — and that absence is deliberate. What remains is only the promise: two cups prepared, the steam rising, the city bearing silent witness.
The contrast between the charcoal world and the intimate color of the cups says what the title doesn’t need to say: that in the middle of any dark city, any complicated night, shared coffee is an act of quiet resistance. A refuge for two.
One cup with a flower. One cup with a cross. Two different ways of being in the world — sitting at the same table.
That is all it takes.
