El arte de Rogelio García nace de una pregunta que no se enuncia pero que atraviesa cada obra: ¿qué queda de nosotros cuando no estamos?
No es una pregunta sobre la muerte. Es una pregunta sobre la presencia — sobre cómo el ser humano deja su huella en los espacios que habita, en los objetos que toca, en los cuerpos que construye y que abandona. García no pinta personas. Pinta lo que las personas dejan atrás. Y en esa ausencia, paradójicamente, la presencia humana se vuelve más intensa que si estuviera representada directamente.
Trabajando exclusivamente en formato digital — iPad y Procreate como únicos instrumentos — García ha desarrollado un lenguaje pictórico que dialoga con la tradición expresionista latinoamericana sin rendirse a ella. Sus pinceladas son gestuales, urgentes, a veces violentas. Sus paletas oscilan entre la penumbra íntima y el estallido cromático. Cada obra es una tensión entre el control y la entrega — entre lo que el artista quiere decir y lo que la obra decide decir por su cuenta.
Hay en este trabajo una honestidad que no negocia. García no pinta para decorar ni para complacer. Pinta para interrogar — al espectador, al mundo que lo rodea, y a sí mismo. Cada serie es un territorio nuevo donde las reglas cambian pero la pregunta de fondo permanece: ¿dónde está el ser humano en todo esto?
La respuesta, siempre, está en la obra. Nunca es la misma dos veces

Rogelio García’s art is born from a question that is never stated but runs through every work: what remains of us when we are gone?
It is not a question about death. It is a question about presence — about how human beings leave their mark on the spaces they inhabit, the objects they touch, the bodies they build and abandon. García does not paint people. He paints what people leave behind. And in that absence, paradoxically, human presence becomes more intense than if it were represented directly.
Working exclusively in digital format — iPad and Procreate as his only instruments — García has developed a pictorial language that speaks to the Latin American expressionist tradition without surrendering to it. His brushstrokes are gestural, urgent, sometimes violent. His palettes shift between intimate shadow and chromatic explosion. Each work is a tension between control and surrender — between what the artist intends to say and what the work decides to say on its own.
There is an honesty in this body of work that does not negotiate. García does not paint to decorate or to please. He paints to question — the viewer, the world around him, and himself. Each series is new territory where the rules change but the underlying question remains: where is the human being in all of this?
The answer, always, is in the work. And it is never the same twice.
